The place

A low white building on the seafront, with a weathered steel awning and the name painted on the wall. Inside, the room is also a collection.

The terrace

A wooden deck, zinc tables and heaters for when it cools down. It faces the promenade and, behind it, the water: this is where the sun goes down.

The room

The ceiling is black steel with the ducts exposed and a column from which ship floodlights hang. The far wall is marés stone. Between the tables, small paintings are stacked and bronze figures stand on shelves, each with its own little label, like a small exhibition room.

The bar at the far end of the room, with an oxblood chesterfield and blue velvet chairs in front.

The board

At the entrance there is a hand-written board with the suggestions of the day. What is written there is not on the printed menu.

Es Molinar and Es Portitxol

Palma's fishermen's quarter: low houses, boats pulled up on the shore, the promenade that runs from the harbour to the beach and the cycle path that follows it all the way. We are at number 73.
